When you make it about them instead of you, your attitude and focus will shift

A lot of entrepreneurs are stuck on themselves.  For some of us, we are way too hard on ourselves.  For others, we are too caught up in our egos.  Either way, this misdirected focus can wreak some serious havoc on your business.

When you flip your thinking from being “me-centric” to serving others, you take a lot of the pressure off and reallocate your energy to a more productive place.

When you give a talk, don’t focus get caught up in the mechanics of you giving the speech, focus on sharing an important message;

When you are stuck in communicating what you do, communicate instead what the customer benefit is;

When you are paralyzed because you can’t decide what to do next, think about what will help your customers and clients;

Stop talking and listen.

At the end of the day, business is not about you, it is about your customers.  You are just a conduit.  When you focus your energy on those you are helping instead of yourself, you will relax and be able to do more and do it better.

Oh, and since this blog was feeling a smidge “Kumbaya-like”, let me add that if you aren’t helping anyone, then you won’t have a business for long.
